Vasilevskiy stops 48, Tampa's run hits 8

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Andrei Vasilevskiy delivered a record-setting performance after sitting out a month.

Tampa Bay's goalie made a career-high 48 saves in his return from a broken left foot and the Lightning beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1 on Thursday night in a matchup of the NHL's top two teams.

"Actually (felt) pretty good," Vasilevskiy said. "Tried to survive the first period, then the second, too."


Jets win in OT to end Oilers' 4-game run

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) Defenseman Josh Morrissey scored 41 seconds into overtime to give the Winnipeg Jets a 5-4 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.

Morrissey took a pass from Mark Scheifele and fired a high shot past goalie Cam Talbot for his fourth goal of the season. The Jets won their third straight, and ended Edmonton's winning streak at four games.


Panarin's 2 goals help Jackets top Kings

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) The evening started just fine for the reeling Los Angeles Kings, who scored first on the road against the Columbus Blue Jackets. But it went downhill from there for the visitors.

Columbus, which hasn't won at home since Nov. 29, answered quickly and Sergei Bobrovsky denied the Kings the rest of the way as the Blue Jackets cruised to a 4-1 win on Thursday night.


Skinner scores 22nd, Sabres beat Coyotes

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) The Buffalo Sabres didn't need overtime, for a change.

Jeff Skinner got his 22nd goal of the season, Casey Mittelstadt and Evan Rodrigues also scored and the Sabres beat the Arizona Coyotes 3-1 on Thursday night for their second consecutive victory.


Meier scores 2 as Sharks edge Stars

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) On a night when they didn't necessarily play their best game, the San Jose Sharks found a way to rise to the occasion.

Timo Meier scored two goals, Logan Couture had two assists and San Jose defeated the Dallas Stars 3-2 Thursday.


Sissons' OT goal lifts Preds by Canucks

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Leading by two late in the third period, the Nashville Predators nearly let this one get away.

Colton Sissons made sure that didn't happen.


Niederreiter scores 2, Wild top Panthers

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) The move by Minnesota Wild coach Bruce Boudreau to put Charlie Coyle at center between Zach Parise and Nino Niederreiter is paying off.

Niederreiter scored twice, Ryan Suter had three assists and Devan Dubnyk finished with 30 saves as the Wild defeated the Florida Panthers 5-1 on Thursday night.


Petry, Price lead Canadiens past 'Canes

MONTREAL (AP) The Montreal Canadiens showed their mettle after their worst performance of the season.

Jeff Petry scored twice as the Canadiens defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 6-4 on Thursday night.


Hurt Ducks' Rakell, Fowler not on trip

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Forward Rickard Rakell and defenseman Cam Fowler won't travel with the Anaheim Ducks when they begin their longest road trip of the season.

Ducks coach Randy Carlyle announced the decision Thursday.


Flames score 2 late, beat Flyers in OT

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) Johnny Gaudreau and the Calgary Flames showed off their resilience in another impressive win.

Gaudreau scored 35 seconds into overtime, and the Flames rallied to beat the Philadelphia Flyers 6-5 on Wednesday night.
